If you asked a group of people what love is, you would probably get as many answers as the people you asked. Love means different things to us depending on how and where we were brought up. That said, we can get a crystal-clear picture of love from the Scriptures. Here are thirty Bible verses to paint that picture.
I. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the wealth of his house, he would be utterly despised. Song of Solomon 8:7
II. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes [in] all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:7
III. Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses. Proverbs 10:12
IV. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a fattened ox and hatred with it. Proverbs 15:17
V. Above all these (compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience) put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14
VI. God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
VII. “The mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10.
